Gas Station: Final Scene Layout

Robot: High Poly Rig

Now that Jordan has finished the high poly version of the robot actor I redid the weight paints for the new geometry onto the character rig I made earlier. All the arms and pivots were in the right places so it was an easy job.

Assets: Misc Models Pt.4

A selection of models made by Henri, Jordan and myself. I tidied up the geometry for a couple and went about creating the UV maps and adding them to the scene.

Assets: Houdini Simulations

To help really sell the apocalypse vibe I did many more simulations in Houdini that would help scatter small particles in the scene that would take up some of the empty space.

Split cereal using a cereal box Henri made.
Smashed glass bottle
Scattered human bones
Scrunched up piles of paper
Piles of sand

Assets: Broken Ceiling Panels

When I was making the ceiling panels for the gas station I left a couple empty with the idea that they would have fallen out and broken at some point. I used my glass breaking simulation and edited a couple of settings so the pieces would stay bigger and there wouldn't be any small shards. I also placed platforms where the shelves in the gas station would be so the pieces wouldn't only fall on the floor.

Environment: Populating the World

I spent some time adding all the smaller various assets to the world around the gas station. I also added some of the models made by Penny and Henri to the shelf in front of the window. Most of this process is just trial and error of what looks good.
