Sadly VRay ended up being less powerful than Arnold in the end. I spent the time to reexport all the Substance files to the Vray format and hooked back all the nodes and the look-dev process too but sadly this was all for nothing as the engine could only handle a 3rd of the assets in engine with a basic global lighting node before it was too much and the system crashed. VRay was not the answered and frankly I was pretty pissed off that so much time had been wasted for nothing. This can be seen as a learning experience but it's still annoying.
On the bright side the HRDI looks good when set up.
